SAN FRANCISCO (MarketWatch) -- The Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation said Friday it has closed two more banks, bringing the day's tally to four and the count for 2009 to 44. The FDIC said that Pine City, Minn.-based Horizon Bank was closed by regulators, as was Irvine, Calif.-based MetroPacific Bank. MetroPacific Bank's deposits were assumed by Tustin, Calif.-based Sunwest Bank, the FDIC said, while those of Horizon Bank were assumed by St. Cloud, Minn.-based Stearns Bank.
